This year, Wine Country Classic Historic Car Races with Infineon Raceway celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Morgan Car which started out in England in 1909.
Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, California, was host of a celebration in recognition of the 100 th year of the Morgan Motor Co. Ltd. On site was the current General Manager of the Morgan "Works" as it is known in the UK, Mr. Charles Morgan, son of Peter Morgan and grandson of the founder, H.F.S. Morgan. Mr. Charles Morgan gave considerable time in the control booth sharing insights and history of this colorful motor car company that is true to the old style tradition, yet places the new Morgan Aero SuperSports first at both rounds of the International FIA GT3 Championship at Silverstone race track this May 2009.
The Morgan faithful gathered for a perfect weekend of cool weather and fast cars at the Infineon Raceway. In typical conservative fashion, the gathering concluded with nothing more risqué than a few naked motors. The Morgan drivers and viewers were however rewarded with a parade lap of all the Morgan cars, of which there were many, on the challenging up and down road course.
The Morgan Motor Co. Ltd., is a family business that continues to hand build that delightful survivor, the Morgan motor car.
Infineon expected over 250 historic cars on the road course for a weekend of racing.
Why Old Race Cars!
Race Cars are the very pinnacle of engineering and automotive design of their time period. Every year the owners of these proud old warriors present them to the race track at Infineon Raceway and demonstrate, with a high level of skill, what these cars were made for. This year nearly 250 historic cars, some dating as far back as 1915, will grace Infineon Raceway for a weekend of racing at the annual Wine Country Classic Historic Car Races.
The annual Wine Country Classic Historic Car Races allow ticket holders to walk through the paddock and get up close to cars and drivers as well as hearing and seeing some very active racing as the history of racing cars passes before you on the very challenging Infineon Raceway road course.
