The Lohner-Werke or Lohner, was founded in early 19th century by Jacob Lohner in Viena to produced electric-cars.
The early cars
were designed by Ferdinand Porsche.
Lohner also manufactured aircraft, during WWI After the company manufactued trams. Following WW2, the company began manufacturing scooters and mopeds and with a merger in 1959, forming Lohner Rotax.
In 1970 Canadian firm Bombardier Inc. acquired a controlling share in the company and renamed it Bombardier-Rotax GmbH.
