The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany is an open and friendly experience. A must see for anyone interested in German cars. The newly designed building would be a worthwhile visit in itself. The best part of the displays is the ease of viewing. There are tours also available. Include the gift shop and food services, a full days visit may not be enough to allow one to savior all that is available.

Porsche has taken the opportunity in the 50th year of the 911 to tour the world with displays and exhibits touting the 911. Some of the largest gatherings have been at Porsche and its wonderful Museum in Stuttgart.

So what is so unusual about the Porsche 911? It has survived for 50 years, yes but also the Chevrolet Corvette has survived in true form for 60 years. What is the big deal about the 911?

Many car makes and models have performed in several of the events or areas of operation in which the 911 has but I am not able to think of any one car model which has excelled in all the above except the Porsche 911 and for 50 years.

Porsche Museum Sound Night 2013

Porsche Museum Sound Night 2013 was held at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen for the third time in History on October 26th.

This Year, Visitor could listen to the Engines of Porsche 356 B Carrera GT "Dreikantschaber", Porsche 904/8, Porsche 911 R, Porsche 917/30, Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, Porsche 934, Porsche 935/78, Porsche 936, Porsche 924 GTP, Porsche 961, Porsche 911 GT1 and finally Porsche 991 RSR.

In between the 1900's and the 2010's Porsche (& Co) have made some rather impressive cars ... but they are finally returning to their roots with a new rip snortin' track tearin' air splittin' hybrid they dubbed the 918 Spyder ... this little beastie busted so many records on the Nurburging that the time keepers are still trying to update the record books ...

But I am intrigued by the conceit of this event, pairing the old and the new ... old: hub mounted electric motor for efficiency and low rolling resistance (get the motive power where it is needed).
