In 1874 Louis Mors named a company, The Societe de l'Electricity et des Automobiles Mors.
Mors became an early French car manufacturer and one of the first to take up automobile racing, starting in 1897. By the end of the century, automobile racing had mostly become a contest between Mors and Panhard et Levassor
