2nd. Justin Wilson; 3rd. Dario Franchitti; 4th. Marco Andretti; 5th. Simon Pagenaud.
Helio Castroneves matains the overall points lead. Scott Dixon's penalty came as the result of his left rear tire clipped the tire Will Power's tire changer was carrying away from Power's stop. Travis Law, the tire changer was not damaged but was sent flying.
Cars have always been used for racing. The most specialized racecars have most always arrived at the track without covering over the wheels; or what is called "Open-Wheel" and have most always been some of the fastest cars made.
Think Indianapolis Raceway cars or Formula 1.
In the beginning, Indy cars were specially designed cars, which ran once a year on the great Indianapolis Raceway Oval and were made for turning left at the highest possible speeds. Now thanks to greater sponsorship the INDY CARS run on tracks all around the US and from time-to-time around the world.
INDY CARS have given up the "left-only world" and now run on select road-course raceways like Sonoma Raceway in Northern California.
This Aug. 23-25, the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma will have the screaming, open-wheel, top of the class cars running Sonoma Raceway's Twelve turns for a full 85 laps. Sonoma also provides fans ample opportunity to meet the drivers and see the pre-race show with the Patriots Jet Team six-jet air show, driver introductions and pre-race ceremonies featuring GoPro's incredible athletes.
You just got to be there, when the world of racing meets at one of the best tracks in the US with some of the best cars in the world
