GALLERY - Prologue

On the 6th of September and with less than one week to go before what must be one of the UK's most special events, The Goodwood Revival. This was the final Revival test day and so it was the final time for the drivers and mechanics to test themselves and the cars.

But its not just the attendees that get dressed up for this event. This was a chance to have a look around this classic old circuit as it gets dressed up too. Items from the world of automotive that would'nt look out of place in a museum are bought together around the grounds to complete the look. But its not just circuit or the cars, how about a Retro High Street full of shops, with names that you may recognise but the staff uniforms you my not.

Enjoy this pictures and check back next week for the full report, pictures and stories from the Revival.

Carroll Shelby, 1923-2012 , along with chief engineer Phil Remington, built 998 Shelby Cobras between 1962 and 1967. It is estimated only 120 of these Shelby Cobras were competition cars, but they gave sports car racing a new direction.

Shelby Cobras were created around the beautiful AC car from the UK but had the addition of a US Ford V8 engine that mated huge torque to an exceptionally light weight car. This had been done many times before, But the Shelby team showed everyone how to do it right

Formula cars usually race on their own day, but with historic race events one gets to see all race groups run over one day. It is like having 'Life On Fast Forward'

The big shiny thing on the rear of this originally sleek race car is a result of having to giving-in to modern life and its increasing sound concerns. The result looks like the crew used the exhaust muffler off their diesel transporter to quiet the engine noise

Saloon racing is a event to watch with the normal street saloon cars going door to door on the track. This US based Nash Metropolitan, event though it has design links to the famed Ferrari designer, Pinin Farina, may have some short comings on the track given the large amount of steel that extends out beyond the outside edge of the wheels. One could even think "tipy"
